The Beautiful Mind Series, Volume 2: Grace and Precision. Dance is poetry made visible, fragrance is the dance of invisible molecules. World-famous ballerina Polina Semenova is the creative partner of the new Precision and Grace fragrance. “I was fascinated by what goes on in the mind of a great ballerina when she dances,” says Sean, and the precision she must have to express grace. For her part, Semenova explains: “Without smart work, there are no results, even if you have great talent. Precision only comes with hours of work. So when I go on stage, I no longer think. The fragrance balances between high fruity and powdery notes because they remind me of the summers in the Russian countryside of my childhood,” says Semenova. The aroma of pear and plum makes me smile. The top note of Williams pear bursts out of the fragrance as a sparkling, juicy green. The heart of the fragrance is jasmine (the most fruity) with plum. Osmanthus, a white flower with a hint of apricot, acts as a harmonious counterpoint. “For me, Precision and Grace evokes the lightness of the transparent layers of a classic ballerina’s costume,” says Sean, “and the warmth of her body as she dances. The scent becomes warm and velvety, with a base of wood and musk. I used real sandalwood because it is more complex and organic than synthetic versions, and has a greater ability to convey the warmth of the body in motion. Pink pepper, Sean’s signature, also appears. According to Semenova, it is like a breeze, light and feminine, but there is also an unusual pepper note that adds something deep, strong to the scent. It’s like ballet: without hidden strength, you can’t achieve grace. The packaging is an image of a dancer’s meditative state of mind during a performance. The dots and triangles represent a series of locations indicating the precise steps she must take, explains another of Paul White’s ways of conveying the gestures of ballet. The dance is precise yet ethereal. It represents the dancer’s freedom, her joy. Volume 2: Precision and Grace of The Beautiful Mind is scheduled for release on March 1, 2015.
